My name is Tammy K. Zuniga and I was born in Denver, Colorado. I am happily married with two children and a dog. I am proud of the accomplishments that my children have obtained as they have grown into young adults. I have had my outgoing dog, Squeakers for eight years. We hang out a lot during my leisure time and go for walks around the neighborhood. I love my family.
I started working for Adams Five Star Schools fourteen years ago. I started as a floater within Nutritional Services drifting from one school to another. When I went to McElwain Elementary School they took me in. This was the school for me. There’s more to a lunch lady than the hairnet and scooping meals on a tray. At first glance, the position of a lunch lady might seem like a fairly simple job that does not entail much, but that is actually far from the truth. Lunch ladies in elementary schools have many tasks that we must accomplish to ensure that each day runs smoothly for everyone, especially the children. I must stay informed of all nutritional information, kitchen supplies, and health codes. Serving the meals is important and should never be over looked. We must pay close attention to the temperatures of the food and provide healthy portions. It is important to know how to properly store fresh and frozen food items. This relates to keeping records of how many meals were served or hat portions were left over. It is also important to maintain a safe and clean environment for preparing an cooking the food items. What makes working at McElwain Elementary the best is getting to know the students, working with the staff and spending time with Rosalie, Luz and Linda.
