I have been an elementary school teacher for 16 years. For every one of those years I have been teaching 5th grade at McElwain. 3 years ago I awitched to the 3rd Grade team. I love being a part of the McElwain community of students, families, and staff. I have gotten to know many families over the years and I have often taught siblings of the same family. Although the staff has changed continuously throughout the years, McElwain has always had a dedicated staff which has been fun to work with. I am excited for our recent push to become and International Baccalaureate School. I enjoy working with fifth graders and think it is a very interesting year for elementary school students. Our fifth graders are on the cusp of becoming middle schoolers and are able to comprehend and discuss some of the larger themed issues that we read about in our texts and fiction books, and learn about through the IB program.
Outside of school I can mostly be found hanging out with my family. We like to do things together such as snowboarding in the winter and playing outside in the summer. Gardening is currently my hobby and obsession. I have shared this interest with my students by organizing a few rounds of a McElwain plant and garden club.
