Meet Our New Assistant Principal!

Welcome our New Assistant Principal, Mr. D!

We are thrilled to welcome Josh Drozdowski, Mr. D., as the new McElwain assistant principal for the 2022-2023 school year. Here is a letter he wrote to you, our amazing Steggie community:

Dear McElwain Community,

I am grateful and excited to be the next Assistant Principal at McElwain Elementary School. I am looking forward to being a part of a tight-knit and growing community that is passionate about the success of its students.

I started my path in education as a high school social studies and history teacher in Michigan, where I grew up. From there I taught English as a second language for two years in Istanbul, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. My career then brought me to Colorado and the St Vrain Valley School District where I taught struggling 6-12th grade students in an alternative education program. From there I was promoted to be a program coordinator for that program as well as administratively support the Main St. School and serve on the Student Services leadership team. After two years in that position, I served as the dean of students at Soaring Heights PK-8 for three years. This year I have served as the assistant principal at Preston Middle School in Fort Collins. I have worked in education for over 15 years as a building substitute, paraprofessional, teacher, program coordinator, dean of students and assistant principal. I have served students and families at every level of the pk-12 continuum in alternative and comprehensive school settings. I am proud for the next part of my journey to be with McElwain and the Adams 12 School District.

In my spare time I am a passionate practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I also like to climb, hike with my two dogs, travel, drink coffee and eat pizza.

It will be an honor to help McElwain continue its journey to being one of the best schools in Colorado. I believe there is a path to success for every student in this community and together we can ensure they reach their full potential.

Sincerely,

Josh Drozdowski

Please help us welcome Mr. D. into our warm and loving school family. We're glad you're here, Mr. D.!
