Dear McElwain Community-
I am humbled and honored to be the next principal at McElwain Elementary. I fell in love with the school and surrounding community immediately due to the clear evidence of genuine love and passion for their children. I am excited to work with each and every student, staff member, parent and community member. McElwain is a special place indeed.
I began my educational career twenty years ago in a suburb near Chicago. I taught struggling high school juniors poetry and Shakespeare for six years . After having my first daughter, my husband and I moved to Woodland Park, Colorado. There I had several opportunities, I assisted in beginning a Freshman Academy for struggling students, I served as an English Department Chair, and finished up as an Assistant Principal. Within that time I had a second daughter and we had decided to move to the northern part of the state. We landed in Lyons, Colorado, still our current home. I served as an Assistant Principal at a middle school in St.Vrain Valley for six years. I then transitioned into a K-8 as an Assistant Principal in Adams 12 for the past two years. There have been many moves, challenges and changes, but I genuinely believe that I have found a permanent home in Adams 12 and McElwain Elementary. I am proud to be a part of Adams 12 schools, and I am proud to be the next Principal at McElwain Elementary.
I believe that together, we can continue on this journey of creating one of the best schools in this district and state. Together, we can continue to create a community that empowers each mind to achieve his or her greatest potential, and develop resilience that will rival all others. I am passionate that all students can and will learn. Together we will continue to create the change we want to see.
